Background

Vasile Alecsandri University of Bacău sought to revolutionise education and research through the integration of cutting-edge immersive technology. As part of Romania’s drive toward digital transformation and modernised learning environments, the university envisioned a facility that would redefine academic innovation and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

This vision materialised as Romania’s first Virtual Reality Immersion Laboratory, a landmark initiative that reflects the university’s commitment to educational excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Tailored Solution

To bring this project to life, Antycip, in partnership with local technology integrator Aliant, provided a complete turnkey solution, from concept to installation, ensuring seamless delivery of a world-class immersive learning environment.

The laboratory features a CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment) measuring 3.0 x 3.5 x 2.2 metres, an interactive cube designed to accommodate multiple users simultaneously for collaborative learning experiences.

Equipped with Barco projection technology, high-quality VR headsets, and an advanced audio system, the laboratory enables realistic, multi-sensory immersion. The system integrates seamlessly with powerful simulation software to support interactive teaching and research across numerous domains.

An essential focus of the project is faculty development. Antycip and Aliant designed tailored training programmes to help academic staff create immersive lessons and pedagogical tools. This ensures that educators are fully equipped to integrate VR technology into their teaching methods, amplifying engagement and improving learning outcomes.
