Delivering the Future of Command and Staff Training: The JCAST Partnership - ST Engineering Antycip Skip to main content

At Antycip, we are proud to support the Joint Command and Staff Training (JCAST) programme. This long-standing UK Ministry of Defence initiative brings together trusted defence and technology partners to deliver the next generation of operational-level training aligned to real world events.

JCAST underpins one of Defence’s most important priorities: ensuring that commanders and staff can think, plan and act effectively across all domains. As the operational environment becomes more complex, the programme combines experience, data and simulation technology to give the UK’s Integrated Warfare Centre the tools to train and make decisions with confidence.

Antycip’s role within JCAST

For more than twenty-five years, Antycip has worked with the UK MoD to advance simulation and visualisation for defence training. Within JCAST, Antycip provides the simulation and synthetic environment framework based on MAK ONE VR-Forces. This constructive simulation capability allows planners to build detailed, data-driven scenarios that replicate real-world terrain, weather, information conditions and threat dynamics. It enables commanders and staff to explore courses of action, test decisions and rehearse coordination across multiple domains before they face them in the field.

Our contribution is guided by four enduring principles: flexibility in how simulation integrates with existing systems; integration of people and technology through military, academic and industrial expertise; experience gained from more than two decades supporting MoD training; and a commitment to innovation through partnerships such as JCAST.

The strength of the partnership

The JCAST programme brings together a consortium of proven defence and technology partners, each adding a distinct capability that together forms a complete training solution. MASS leads operational-level training design, delivery and analysis. Hadean contributes scalable, AI-driven simulation for large, adaptive synthetic environments. 4C Strategies provides the Exonaut platform for planning, readiness management and after-action review.

Each partner brings a specific strength, but it is their combined effect that defines the JCAST programme. Together, these capabilities form a coherent, future-ready training environment that reflects the realities of modern defence operations and adapts as those realities evolve.

An integrated approach to training

JCAST represents a move toward a fully integrated and data-informed approach to command and staff training. It connects technology, people and process to create a training ecosystem that supports genuine operational advantage. By linking immersive synthetic environments with AI-driven simulation and structured analysis, the programme allows Defence personnel to train with the realism and precision required in contemporary operations.

At Antycip, we see technology as an enabler for human expertise. Our work within JCAST reflects that belief, ensuring that simulation is not only realistic but relevant, helping commanders translate complex information into clear, timely decisions.

Building the future of defence training

As Defence prepares for increasingly complex and fast-moving missions, programmes like JCAST are essential to maintaining readiness. Through shared innovation and interoperability, the partnership strengthens decision-making and confidence at every level of command.

Antycip is proud to stand alongside MASS, Hadean and 4C Strategies in supporting the UK MoD’s commitment to modern, integrated training. Together, we are building capability and resilience for the challenges of today and the operations that lie ahead.
